Human-Animal Hybrids

During an artist’s residency in Hunter College, New York in the summer of 2006, research at the Metropolitan Museum into the Egyptian collection and the relationship of that ancient culture to the animal world, influenced the work-in-progress show held there entitled Foundation Deposits. These hybrid works developed into several more human-animal hybrid figures including Sexy Beasts, a small group of porcelain figures inspired by a 16th century majolica plate at the Wallace Collection and a human-life size Hare figure made during a two month residency at Guldagergaard in Denmark in 2009.
