Tableau

This experimental installation, specially made for the exhibition Award in the British Ceramics Biennial 2021, offers a temporary move away from recurring emotive themes to explore the relationship between life drawing and figurative ceramic sculptures.  The project was approached from a formal point of view to understand what could emerge from this dynamic interaction, in the hope a narrative may occur through the connection of scale and material. This work recalls earlier relief figures which explored the liminal place between two and three dimensions.  The creation of a tableau offers the possibility of an imagined theatrical performance.
